Ingredients

Apple Fries Ingredients

  • 2 large large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work great) Choose firm apples for the best texture.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free panko.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • to taste Nonstick cooking spray For coating.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel (optional) and cut apples into fry-like sticks. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  • Set up coating stations: Bowl 1: Add flour. Bowl 2: Whisk egg and milk together. Bowl 3: Mix panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.

Coating and Cooking

  • Dredge each apple stick in flour, dip into the egg mixture, then coat well with the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Lightly spray coated apple fries with nonstick spray. Place in the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if needed).
  • Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.

Serving

  • Enjoy warm with caramel dip, yogurt, or whipped cream.

Notes

Air Fryer Apple Fries are best served warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Reheat in the air fryer to restore crispiness. For variations, consider adding chopped nuts or shredded coconut to the breadcrumb mixture, or using different spices like nutmeg or allspice.
