Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 cup butter Melted
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder Use high-quality for richer flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts Optional mix-ins

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, melt the butter. You can do this in the microwave or on the stove.
  • Once the butter is melted, add the sugar and mix well.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. If you're using chocolate chips or nuts, fold them in now.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for about 20-25 minutes. Check with a toothpick; if it comes out with a few moist crumbs, they are ready.
  • Let the brownies cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, refrigerate for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months. Wrap them well for freezing.
