For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened but not melted.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips For the chocolatey goodness.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies are best enjoyed warm. Serve with a glass of milk or ice cream. Store completely cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week, or freeze for up to three months.
