  • 1 loaf 1 loaf of bread (white or whole wheat), cubed
  • 1 cup 1 cup of celery, chopped
  • 1 cup 1 cup of onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup of butter
  • 2 cups 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon of dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • to taste Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, cooked onion, and celery. Mix in the sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and stir until everything is moistened. If the mixture looks dry, add a bit more broth.
  • Transfer the stuffing to a greased baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

For added flavor, you can toast the bread cubes before mixing them with the other ingredients. Feel free to add in your favorite mix-ins, like sausage, nuts, or dried fruits for extra taste and texture. Adjust the herbs based on your preference. Try using rosemary or oregano for a different flavor.
