  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

Preparation of Hamburger Steaks

  • In a large bowl, grate the onion and add ground beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, cream, and egg. Mix until just combined.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 portions, shape each into a ball, and then flatten to about ¾ inch thick.

Cooking the Hamburger Steaks

  • Heat olive oil and butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook the hamburger steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side. Transfer to a clean plate.

Making the Sauce

  • In the same skillet, add chopped onion and garlic, and reduce the heat to low. Cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  • Stir in salt, pepper, and flour until well combined.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and simmer for 2 minutes, scraping up any brown bits from the skillet.
  • Add heavy cream and dill, bring to a boil, then simmer for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens.
  • Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet and simmer for 5-6 minutes until heated through.
